Thampoo's story

Thampoo runs a Nisa Local situated on a suburban street in Guildford, Surrey, and has been a Payzone retailer for over five years.

Many of Thampoo’s customers visit the store to top up their electricity and gas meters, and due to the current cost of living crisis, people are coming into the store to top up as little as £1. The British Gas top-up service that is exclusive to Payzone, as well as other major energy providers, is a big factor when it comes to customer footfall.

We asked Thampoo why he joined Payzone.

Thampoo was previously with PayPoint but looked to join Payzone due to the high monthly fees PayPoint was charging him. Thampoo says this decision was cemented as the right one when British Gas became an exclusive to Payzone, and he was also able to offer a Drop & Collect service.

This, combined with the lower contract fees were the main reasons for Thampoo switching to Payzone.

We asked Thampoo how he feels about the Payzone Plus device.

Thampoo says, “the Payzone Plus device is great and benefits from a good weekly fee and exclusive services for customers. We pay £8.55 per week and we do love the new device. We’d be delighted to continue using Payzone in the future and would like to look into enabling the card acceptance services too.”
