Payzone partners with allpay

Latest News

Payzone has today announced a partnership with payments provider allpay, to make the bill payment process easier for millions of customers across the UK.

Customers can now pay their council tax and housing rent over the counter at all of Payzone’s and the Post Office's 24,000 locations.

The service is expected to drive basket spend and footfall for retailers, as new and repeat customers come in-store to pay selected bills. Over the next five years, bill payment transaction volumes are predicted to hit 6 million, up from the 2.7 million processed at Post Offices currently, demonstrating the combined strength of the Post Office and Payzone network and future market opportunity in play for retailers.

Customers will be able to take a barcoded bill into a Payzone or Post Office outlet, and the retailer will scan the barcode and take payment. The service will enable customers to pay for council tax, and housing association rent over the counter, allowing them more places to pay, at a more convenient location to them.

Significant other Payzone contract wins include agreements with National Express, ScottishPower, and Jersey Electricity, which have added to the growing list of bill payments partnerships secured by Payzone over the past 12 months.

Tony Killen, Chief Executive for Payzone, said:

"The partnership with Payzone is a great addition to our existing portfolio of products. With cash playing a huge part in our business to this point and an understanding of its importance moving forward, being able to offer further coverage across the UK to our end users is an important step in committing to cash as a payment method.

We have built a great relationship with Payzone and the Post Office over the last 14 years. Being able to increase the flexibility to allow individuals to make bill payments how they want, where they want, when they want.

It was the reason I created the business and to be able to partner with like-minded organisations who have the customers at the heart of what they do, is a perfect fit for us as we continue to move forward at pace."

Simon Lambert, Commercial Director for Payzone, said

“As we know, we’re living in an exceptionally challenging time for families, individuals, and vulnerable people across the country as energy prices continue to climb and private rent in Britain is rising at the fastest rate on record. Many households are left feeling the cost-of-living strain.

To help support those customers, I’m delighted to announce this new partnership between allpay and Payzone and it comes at the perfect time for those consumers, providing them with an additional 12,500 convenient Payzone locations to pay a wide variety of utility and housing bills across allpay’s 500 strong client base.”
