How to let your customers know you accept card payments

Card Payments

There are plenty of reasons why having card acceptance functionality in your store is a necessity. Just take a look at what Barclaycard research revealed:

  • 32% of people consider walking away from a purchase if it can not be done by card. Many people carry very little or no cash at all. On an average day, 37% of people will have less than £10 in their pocket.
  • Almost 1 in 5 customers would choose to buy from somewhere where there is an option for contactless payment.
  • 41% of people would get frustrated if they cannot pay by card, while 43% would even have a lower opinion of that business.

Customers spend up to 100% more if card payments are accepted over cash. So, if you’re a small business and you accept card payments, it’s important to make sure potential customers know that paying by card is an option.

Well placed signage

Let your customers know that they can pay by card before they’ve even entered your shop, by placing card signage in your window. Remember, window signage should be;

Legible: Think carefully about typeface and colour

Easy to read: You should be able to read it from a short distance

Well placed: Place your signage at eye level near to the entrance

When you sign up for our bill payments and card acceptance functionality bundle, you’ll receive signage for FREE so you can promote your new services.

Update Online Platforms

Do you have a website, social media accounts or a Google My Business page? Make sure you update them to include your brand new card acceptance service. This is a great way to capture the attention of a larger audience, and it’s completely free too.

If you’re not online, maybe you should consider if your small business could benefit from it? Websites don’t have to be expensive, especially if you’re just using them for brand awareness. Setting up social media accounts is quick and easy to do too- and completely free of charge.

Talk to your customers

If you’ve recently set up card acceptance functionality in-store, don’t be afraid to tell your customers about it face to face. Drop it into the conversation so that they know that there is now more flexibility when it comes to paying for their purchase.
