How do I pay my ScottishPower bill?

You can top up your Scottish Power smart PAYG meter at a Payzone or Post Office store. Other bill payments pre-pay gas and electricity top ups can be made over the counter at Post Offices, via direct debit, directly through Scottish Power or by making payments over the phone or online.

Prepayment Smart Meter Top Up

To top up your prepayment smart meter with Scottish Power, take your Smart PAYG card to your nearest Payzone store or Post Office branch. All Post Offices and Payzone stores accept cash payments, while debit and credit card payments can be taken at the discretion of the Payzone retailer.

Direct Debit

You can pay your Scottish Power energy bill by direct debit. You can pay in fixed monthly payments so the same amount is paid each month, or opt for variable monthly payments. Variable monthly payments are determined by the amount of energy that you use. 

Telephone Payments

To pay your Scottish Power energy bill over the phone, call the 24-hour automated payment line on 0800 001 5115. They accept all major MasterCards and Visa Cards. 

Online Payments

You can pay your Scottish Power smart meter energy bill online via the Scottish Power app, the Scottish Power website or your internet banking app.

To pay your bill via the app, download the ‘YourEnergy’ app from the Apple App Store or Google Play and follow the account setup instructions. You can make instant payments, submit meter readings, set up reminders and more.

To pay your bill via the Scottish Power website, access the account login area here. The secure, web-based payment service will take your online payment.

To pay your bill via your internet banking app, make a bank transfer to Scottish Power using their Sort Code: 830706 and Account Number: 00674713 and quote your 11 digit ScottishPower Account Number. 

If you have a prepaid meter, online payments are only available to pay as you go customers with a smart meter. 

How do I get a new Scottish Power (gas/electric) top up card for my smart meter?

Before you collect a new key, you need to contact Scottish Power on 0800 027 0072 for a reference number. Then, visit your nearest Payzone SuperAgent, who will provide you with a new card. 

If you have a smart meter and need a new replacement energy card, you can order through your online account. Sign in and select 'Manage account' for the fuel that needs a replacement card. Then click on 'Order a new payment card' in the 'Your payments' section. Once you have confirmed your name and delivery address click 'Submit your details.' It will take ten working days to get to you.

Where can I top up my Scottish Power prepayment smart meter?

Take your Scottish Power Smart PAYG card to your nearest Payzone store or Post Office branch and top up over the counter with cash. You can top up any amount from £1 to £49 in a single transaction. 

At a Post Office

For customers with a non-smart pre-pay meter, you can top up your electricity meter over the counter at 11,500 Post Offices. Take your electricity key or your gas card to your nearest Post Office and top up over the counter with cash. Once you have topped up your Scottish Power electricity key, or Scottish Power gas Card put it into your meter. The credit will transfer to your meter automatically.

Online

To top up your electricity on your Scottish Power smart meter online, log in to your Scottish Power online account and click the ‘Top Up Online’ tab. If you cannot remember your Scottish Power online account details, you can still complete your Scottish Power smart meter top up online as a guest using your Smart Card Number. 

Electricity top ups can be completed via the Scottish Power app. You can download it through the App Store or Google Play.

Telephone

To top up your electricity on a Scottish Power smart meter over the phone, call 0800 001 5115. You will need your customer reference number and your debit or credit card details. 

How do I top up my Scottish Power meter without a card?

If you are a customer with a Scottish Power prepayment smart meter, you can top up without a gas card or electricity key online, by phone or by visiting your local Payzone store or Post Office.

If you do not have a Scottish Power card for your gas and electricity, you can access the barcodes for both of these by downloading the YourEnergy app. Take your phone and the relevant barcode to your nearest Payzone store or Post Office branch. 

You can top up without a card online, directly through the Scottish Power YourEnergy app or over the phone on 0800 001 5115. You can also order a replacement card if you wish.

Why is my Scottish Power top up card not working?

If your Scottish Power top up card is not working, there could be a problem with either your meter or your card. First, check your meter for error messages. If there are no error messages, it is most likely to be a problem with your Scottish Power energy card.

All of our prepayment meters have £5 of emergency credit which can be used if you are unable to top up. You will need to repay this when you next top up your card.

What is the minimum amount you can put on a Scottish Power Card?

The minimum amount you can put on a Scottish Power energy card is £1, up to a maximum of £49 in a single transaction. Your electricity meter will hold up to £249 and gas meters hold a maximum of £999.
