PAYZONE WINS "SUPPLIER EXCELLENCE" AT THE NFRN AWARDS

Latest News

Payzone is delighted to have won the “Supplier Excellence Award”, which recognises excellence within the general supplier community, at the National Federation of Retail Newsagents (NFRN) awards.

With sixty five per cent of Payzone’s retail network made up of independent retailers, the company has worked hard to introduce a number of major initiatives to help improve retailer operating conditions.  These include the removal of terminal exclusivity requirements, shorter notice periods, improved margins and fewer cash collections per week. Additionally, the recent re-structuring of payments for utilities has also been an important step in improving retailer profitability on prepayment services.  Consequently, the NFRN reported that the number of retailers installing Payzone terminals has increased four-fold since 2007.

Payzone has significantly grown the number of services retailers can offer customers.  Today, popular services include pre-paid mobile phone top-ups, energy pre-payments, bill payments, debit and credit card processing, local and housing authority payments, world-wide money transfer services,  transport ticketing, pre-paid Visa vouchers, pre-paid Visa and MasterCard payment cards, payment vouchers for on-line shopping, lottery games, parking and electronic road tolling, and contactless payment solutions.

Paul Charmatz, Managing Director of Payzone, said: “We are very pleased to have received the “Supplier Excellence Award” at the NFRN awards. The NFRN is one of Europe’s largest retail trade associations, representing over 18,000 independent news and convenience stores, and we are delighted to be recognised for our service and dedication to this important community.”

Paul Charmatz, who also presented the winner of the “Independent Community Retailer of the Year Award”, also said: “We would also like to congratulate Creaton Post Office, who won Payzone’s sponsored “Independent Community Retailer of the Year Award” for transforming a run-down village shop into a thriving and vibrant store.”

Graeme Collins, Head of Marketing and Business Development at NFRN, said: “Electronic commerce is a huge and increasingly important part of the independent retailing scene. Payzone has spearheaded a number of campaigns to help improve trading conditions for independents, which have been hugely popular and we have seen four-fold increase in the number of members holding Payzone terminals.”
