Payzone and Ukash are leading the way in the UK prepaid market having agreed a major new deal which will enable the provision of prepaid card reloading services for MasterCard rePower at over 18,000 Payzone outlets across the UK, bringing a boost to the prepaid card segment and extending convenience to cardholders in the UK. Due to go live in early 2010, the Payzone and Ukash partnership will enable consumers to load their eligible MasterCard or Maestro prepaid cards with cash at any of the 18,000 Payzone outlets located across the UK. The value of the load transaction will then immediately be available for customers to spend. According to PSE Research data (August 2008), it is estimated that by the year 2015, there will be more than 20m network-branded prepaid cards issued within the UK & Ireland. The partnership between Payzone and Ukash acknowledges this opportunity and opens up cash loading opportunities for new and existing prepaid card issuers. Offering the most convenient way to top up prepaid products with cash, Payzone already provides top-up services for a number of popular prepaid cards, and through its alliance with Ukash can now bring added value, offering its merchants access to the large number of consumers who have prepaid cards connected to the rePower™ network. Bill Thomson, Managing Director at Payzone says: “We're delighted that we will be offering this service - providing customers with an easy and convenient place to load funds onto their prepaid cards. Payzone prides itself on being the payment network of choice and we believe that MasterCard rePower represents an exciting area of growth. The new service will further add to our extensive range, including mobile top-ups, bill payments, calling cards, ticketing and money transfer.” Mark Chirnside, CEO of Ukash said: “The MasterCard® rePower™ service is a real addition to the prepaid card market in the UK and we are proud that our partnership with Payzone will make the service available to more users across the UK. The prepaid market is very significant and has proved a key growth area and will continue to be an important revenue stream for Ukash as we diversify our range of products.” Enquiries: Payzone Temple Bar Advisory ING (for Ukash) About Payzone The Company offers a wide range of services including pre-paid mobile phone top-ups, energy pre-payments, bill payments, pre-paid Visa vouchers, local and housing authority payments, pre-paid Visa and MasterCard payment cards, payment vouchers for on-line shopping, gift card and loyalty programmes, transport ticketing, lottery games, parking and electronic road tolling, debit and credit card acceptance, contactless payment solutions and world-wide money transfer services.
